I didn't know ovens catered to religions, so I was somewhat amused to find out our new stove has a "Sabbath mode." I haven't tried it, but believe me, I will when I next find myself drawn to cook on a Saturday. I suppose, though, to use it in a true Sabbath observance, you'd have to program it before sundown on Friday. And I hardly ever plan my meals that far in advance.

I'm feeling very domestic lately, moving into the house and doing little tasks and improvements. We've replaced faded, drooping blinds with new miniblinds and replaced the ripped curtains that were thumb-tacked up (yes, thumb tacks) with actual curtains. We've installed a more efficient showerhead and found a color-coordinated shower curtain and rug. The next task is new tile in the kitchen. Overall, I like doing little house-y things, though the novelty may wear off while I'm peeling up the old kitchen lino.

We managed to salvage an old, beautiful art deco-style dresser from David's mom's house. I was glad to be informed that there is a matching vanity and bedframe lying around somewhere, too. I like antiques that are not too ornate. Other items that I hope to incorporate into the decor: A WWII-era console radio and an old wooden card catalog.
