Blawst! Kaiser called my parents house, wanting to schedule my cornea transplant surgery. I called them as soon as my mom told me they called, but nobody answered and I had to leave a message. I hope they call me back tomorrow, because I really want to get my surgery scheduled and get this shiznit over with.
I've gotten used to being blind in my right eye, but it is still very difficult to do certain things, like DRIVE! If I drive on the right side of the road, watch out, because I can't see crap on the right side of me. Because of that, I always drive on the left lane and guide myself by the lines on the road. I can't drive on the freeway yet. I can only drive to and from work and short distances with a minimal amount of turns. Being handicapped sucks!
I seriously cannot wait to get my new cornea! I've been ready for over a year now and I just want my eye to look normal again. Well, really, my doctor said that my eye will never look completely normal, but at least you will be able to see the real color of my iris and my pupil. To me, the weirdest part about how my eye looks right now is the absence of a visible pupil. Having a cornea transplant is kind of sad though, because my doctor wants the cornea I get to come from someone around my age or younger because she wants it to be fresh and healthy, so basically, I have to wait for a young person to die who decided (or someone decided for them) to donate their organs. :(
If you were curious to see how my eye looks, here is a recent picture my mom took of me. I call it my Wizard's Eye. Haha.
