Coupling 4x01-4x04: Wow. I don't just hate Oliver. I hate Oliver with ever fibre of my being. I cringe every single time he's onscreen. I have actually fast forwarded through some of his scenes. ARGH. The only good thing about Jeff being gone is that Patrick gets more attention. I don't really care for the whole baby plot either, so I'm definitely not enjoying this season as much as the others. I'll have to go back and rewatch a few classic episodes after I finish season four just to cleanse my pallette.
Guys, I get so giddy when the Doctor Who theme song plays. I never imagined I would love it this much!
Doctor Who 2x11: Fear Her
Oh, I loved it! I loved it so, so, so, sosososo much! That was everything fun, and terrifying, and science fictiony, and tragically romantic, that I love about Doctor Who all rolled up into one perfect little episode! Well, I could have done without the silly Olympic torch bit at the very end, but I loved the episode so much I'm willing to look past that. Far, far past that.
And I'm so glad we got one last really good playful episode before it all goes to hell.
I definitely like the baddies best when they aren't purposefully trying to take over the world. That's just boring.
*cough*cybermen*cough*
This story felt like it could have come straight from an episode of the X-Files. Not to say that Rose and the Doctor are anything like Mulder and Scully, cause there not, but storywise. Am I wrong or did the music even have a bit of an X-Files vibe at certain moments? Mulder totally would have picked up on the metallicy smelling residue. And Scully would definitely have approved of going back to the TARDIS to perform an autopsy on the squiggle creature.
"If living things can become drawings than maybe drawings can become living things."
TEN:
Oh Doctor, I love you best when you're running around smelling things, and tasting things, and being adorable, and rambunxious, and abnoxious, and generally making Rose look at you like there's something wrong with you. Also, when he called the opening ceremonies "the opening do da", I thought I was going to die of giggles.
"I had a passing fancy, only I didn't pass I stopped."
"Nobody else in the entire galaxy has ever bothered to make edible ball bearings. Genuis."
"Snakes and ladders? I'm quite good at squash. I'm being facetious. There's no call for it."
"FINGERS ON LIPS!"
"Whoa, there it goes again! Look at the hairs on the back of my manly, hairly hand."
"I'm not really a cat person. Once you've been treatened by one in a nuns wimple it kind of takes the joy out of it."
"That takes some doing, just to snatch a living organism out of space and time. This baby is just like, I'm havin' some of that!"
"Find the source and you will find whatever's taken to stealing children and fluffy animals."
"That is so dinky! The go anywhere creature. Fits in your pocket, makes friends, impresses the boss. Breaks the ice at parties."
"I can't stress this enough. Ball bearings you can eat. Masterpiece!"
ROSE
Yay for Rose being usefull and not one dimensional! Yay for her pretty, albeit non-functional hair and even prettier outfit! I Didn't quite get her child's drawing epihany, but that's okay, Ten didn't either and that made it funny.
"I'm tougher than I look, honest."
"I was attacked by a pencil scribble?"
"Well, when you've worked it out put it in a big book about tar-macking.
HAND!PORN
They definitely made up for the lack of hand porn in recent episodes with this one. Who ever directed this episode is my new best friend in the whole world.
ROSE IN THE BACKGROUND
I'm a little bit obsessed with watching Rose in the background. She's always reacting to Ten. Sometimes it's something nice like affection or admiration, but most often it's a reaction of the eye rolling sort. Except, whatever, she may give him a look of disgust when he licks and smells random objects off the ground, but she's the next one right in there licking and smelling after him.
ROSE AND TEN
I love them! SO MUCH! Most of all when they work well together, and push each other around, and make each other laugh. And I like it when Rose hangs off of him because I would if I were her! And he clearly doesn't mind. And they clearly love each other. And, I'm sorry, but I just refuse to believe they don't go back to the TARDIS at the end of the day for big old pajama party that may or may not end a bit more adult then it began. I REFUSE. And how much do I love the rampant hugging? SO MUCH. I bet they do that all the time, like, breakfast was lovely, hooray, let's hug! Or, we fixed the broken fuse, let's hug! Or, I haven't seen you for two minutes and three seconds, LET'S HUG!. Of course, all the shippiness is tainted with tragedy right now. Stupid tragedy randomly depressing me when I'm just trying to enjoy possibly my favourite episode of the season.
I so loved that they returned to the TARDIS to do science. She's so underused as a tool for science. Well, mostly I'm just happy whenever we get a glimpse of them hanging about in there. And I enjoyed that they weren't drowned in torquise this time.
Rose: The girl
Doctor: OF COURSE! What girl?
Doctor: I was a dad once.
"Are you deducting?"
"While they're happy they can feed off each others love. Without it they're lost."
"Fear, loneliness, they're the big ones, Rose. Some of the most terrible acts ever committed have been inspired by them."
"This has all the things you need to get across this universe. Warp drive, worm hole refractors, you know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold."
Rose: You know what? They keep trying to split us up, but they never ever will.
Doctor: Never say never ever.
SPOILERY COMMENTS ABOUT THE PROMO BELOW
I've seen the promo, and I know that Rose leaves the show, but I don't know specifics. Please don't spoil me beyond that!
2x12 PROMO:
So far this show has been all wish fullfillment and no brutal reality for me, but that's all about to change. I'm so sad about Rose. I didn't mention the big spoiler when I heard about it because it just made me sad and I didn't much feel like talking about it. I know, I know, this is the way of Doctor Who, but I'm new, and this is my Rose. She's the only reason I watched this show in the first place, before that Tennant fellow arrived. I have a feeling I'm going to take this really hard. I'm just livid with hope that they'll do her justice in the end, and not break her too badly. Rose has always been my point of connection to this show and I'm worried I'll be rutterless without her and her world.
Clearly I don't know whether Rose dies or not, though I'm taking it that she doesn't (DON'T TELL ME). At first I thought Jackie would die, but the cybermen have already killed one Jackie, but it wasn't Rose's Jackie.
The promo certainly suggests Jackie dies, which could really serve as evidence for or against. It could be Mickey or Peter, but she's already had to deal with losing them as well, so who knows. It probably will be Jackie. God, I don't know if I can stand that!
Really,
could they have shown us a more spoilery cap? Mickey! Pete! The fact that we get Mickey and Pete back is the only reason I'm not completely pissed off at having to deal with the cybermen again. Actually, I think the plot sounds pretty cool even if that Torchwood lady seems a lot like that fellow from the Dalek episode last season.
This shot is killing me. I can't quite place the look on her face. It almost looks as if she's too exhausted to feel anything. My guess is that this is the shot of Rose right after the Doctor leaves. Of course, I suck at guessing. God, I don't even want to talk about it. I just don't want it to happen at all. the next two weeks are going to hurt so much. I just hope they're also good.
PS.
winter_baby has some great thoughts on seasons three and four of Spooks
here, and also a bit of Adam picspam
here. He's SO PRETTY.
PSS. Doctor Who caps will be available here once photobucket stops being a dick.
PSSS.
ginger1978, after you see the promo you have to tell me if you're speculation changes as to what's going to happen in the Doctor Who finale. I'm dead curious!
