I spent over an hour with my hands in the guts of a sewing machine last night. I must have disassembled and replaced the shuttle assembly a dozen times or more, yet I can't get past three stitches before the machine is fouled again. I hate sewing. I really do not enjoy it, but I also don't want to put it away without finishing a couple of projects including the quilt I'm in the middle of making. It's not a patience issue, more probably due to the fact that I grew up around an accomplished seamstress who wanted me to learn but couldn't teach me nor would share the equipment. It looked so easy but I didn't master it in 30 seconds so she got fed up and I feel pretty inept around it. I can, but it takes 3-4 times longer in my novice state so it's months and even years between each piece. Of all the homemaker type skills, it's the one that eludes me and that probably adds to the burden of trying to like something I'm obviously not meant to spend much time doing.
