Have finally got around to writing about my trip to Wembley over the weekend. I had an amazing time seeing one of the greatest bands EVER!
It started on Saturday when Helen and I got the train to London and headed for Borough Market. There was loads of lush food there and we got to sample it all, the olives were the best bit. After there we went to our posh hotel in Holborn (using our Tesco's vouchers so that isn't so posh) and checked in. The room was huge with 2 queen size beds, massive bathroom, TV, mini bar and loads of other things. We didn't buy anything from there, instead we went to the Wetherspoons around the corner for some cheap drinks before going to Wembley.
Got there about 5, just in time to see Dirty Pretty Things. Now I don't know much of their stuff but staring at Carl Barat for an hour isn't a hardship for me anyway so I just did that while drinking my wine in the glorious sunshine. The Streets were next and they were good, especially Blinded by the Lights and Dry Your Eyes. I missed Don't Mug Yourself which I was annoyed about because the bloke serving behind the bar was sooooooooooooo slow.
Then, the main men themselves came on, Matt had a nice red suit on but he can pull it off somehow. They opened with Knights of Cydonia and everyone just went mad, including myself. They played all the hits of Black Holes, Plug in Baby, Citizen Erased (a personally favourite of mine), Muscle Museum, Unintended, and then ended on Take a Bow. By which point I was pissed and can barely remember leaving to go onto the tube home. I do remembering phoning Jason during Plug in Baby though and he said he could hear it well.
Sunday Helen and I were quite hungover so just mooched around London before getting the train home. I did take full advantage of the buffet breakfast at the hotel though, thought I was going to pop afterwards.
I love seeing Muse live and every time they just get bigger and better. They don't say much during their gigs, just perform but that is fine by me. The lights, people, atmosphere was all incredible, loved it!!!
Then last night I went to see The Fratellis in Swindon, bit of a smaller venue but still good. They did most of the stuff from Costello Music but then they left before doing Chelsea Dagger and everyone was going mad screaming 'Chelsea, Chelsea.' They did come back on and do it which was just as well, best song they have done me thinks.
Am knackered now after all this gigging and have been invited out tonight but I just want to sit in front of the TV with my wine, am definitely showing my age now. Should go out though as I haven't seen my friends in ages, oh decisions decisions!!!!
I didn't get the Zurich job, which is one that I went for last Friday. Was a bit gutted when they told me but they said it was filled internally. That pisses me off as you think that they always had that person in mind so why bother interviewing me - GGRR! Still waiting to hear back about another so fingers crossed.
