So - we have squirrels - LOTS of them. Not as pets mind you... they are wild, wacky and maddening most of the time. In fact when we moved into this house there were a minimum of 15 bird and squirrel feeders in the backyard alone. In fact it wasn't a backyard - it was a habitat. My sister has spent a great deal of time over the last several years thinning out the overgrown vegitation and all of the feeders. The reason? One it looks cleaner and two... we have a terrior. Terriors are bred to track and hunt vermin... in this case... squirrels. Bozley goes insane everytime he time he goes outside; staring up into the trees for every flick of a tail and skittering rodent that raced across the tops of fences and telephone wires. Bozley barks like a loonatic and basically makes a nusance of himself.
Then Friday we discovered something.
These same squirrels that can make our lives a noisy hell are also gardeners.
Out of the plant pot filled with dirt and nothing else since the tomato plants last year, popped this tall green stem that turned out to a very beautiful sunflower. So I pulled out my camera and took some shots that turned out well. Some of which are below along with a special visitor. ;)
So I guess I should be thanking the squirrels for this late season surprise. So... Thank you Mr. Squirrel. :D
Now get the heck out of our trees!!!
;P
