get their own post BECAUSE IT WAS AWESOME!!!
The entire performance was fantastic. During the first half, each person got their own chance to show off. The singing was lovely and the dancing was so much fun to watch!! This lady did this thing she called mouth music in Gaelic. It sounded like her vocals were an intstrument, but it was lyrics and stuff (gee I'm so technical XD). This guy sang a ballad type thing; it was so pretty. Then there was a different lady playing the harp-OMG, her hands moved fast. I mean, they all did, but hers were more obvious. and awesome. because its the harp.
Then intermission. Oh, and did I mention I was the STAGE GUARD!!! HOLLA!! That totally means that I was in the front row, on the north side the entire show. I saw EVERYTHING!!!!!! (tbh, it's a totally honorary position. nobody's ever actually tried to rush the stage)
Then, for the second half, more awesome music and then LOCALS! The IU Irish Step Dancing Team made an apperance, as did the Southern Indiana Pipe and Drum Core. We also had a couple guys who I think regularly perform at Runcible Spoon up there. Then, for the finale, they led a line thingy around the auditorium. The lady who was with the band (band?) led the line, then the step dance team, then the guy dancer who was with the band and
get ready for the freakishlyawesometastic part...
I WENT WITH THEM.
It was in the finishing tradition of some place and I (being the dingdong I am) TOTALLY DID NOT REALIZE THIS MEANT THIS WAS THE LAST THING THEY WERE DOING AND THAT I HAD TO STAGE GUARD AFTER THEY WERE DONE AND THAT I WAS STILL WEARING MY STUDENT VOLUNTEER BADGE *epicfacepalm*. I was all like-HELL YEAH, TAKE ME WITH YOU!!! So I grabbed the guys hand because I'm RIGHT THERE where they are disembarking the stage. I'm trying to focus on the steps which I'm sure are uber simple...when you're not wearing high clunky heels...and I grab hands with this tiny little girl who's like HECK YEAH, TAKE ME WITH YOU!!! and so we start the line of audience, she and me. We are led in a snake through the audience and, fool that I am, I assume that we'll get to the other side of the auditorium and stop, lined up around the orchestra seating...
NOOOOOOO, WE WENT ON STAGE!!!
So I'm all like ODAHM, I'm in mah usher uniform and I'm epicflailing and WEEEEEEEEEE. I'm up there, grinnin' like a stonedead FOOL.
So then, we, the audience members, shake hands with the dancers and quickly disembark
and I scurry my way as quick as possible back to my post, worried about being chastised or something. BUT no, it was all cool. Jen (the head of the auditorium relations thing) was all like -DUDE! SO, YOU'RE LIKE A ROCK STAR NOW!! 'Cause she's Jen and awesome and goofy like that.
And, of course, I'm like the most obviously visible of the people who went on stage (you know, everyone else was in normal clothes and were able to disappear. I was in my black and white and stationed back at the stage stairs), so all these patrons are like "Awesome dancing, was that fun?" and so on! I even got a fist bump from one random dude!
All in all, pretty freaking amazing! ^ - ^
