Police warn of scheme

http://www.tribtown.com Seymour residents, especially the elderly, should be on the alert for a telephone investment scam.
"I've only had one call about it so far, but that person did give out his bank account information," Seymour Police Detective Bill Abbott said Friday afternoon. "Luckily, he was able to put a stop on the account."
The scam involves a caller identifying himself with the Golden Grant Company and asking for a $346.78 deposit for $1,000 in return.
Residents with caller ID should be on the lookout for 888 numbers, Abbott added.
"First and foremost, people should not do it," Abbott said of the scam. "Second of all, they should call the police department with any questions."
