Dean/Gabriel - "Use Me Up" - R - Kink: Drug Use

Dean’s pretty much out of it. He is almost every night now. It’s funny because he knew the signs to look for. He’d watched Sammy dealing with withdrawal and he’d gone to future and seen Cas all hyped up on anything he could pop or shoot up and yet Dean hadn’t seen it coming. He’d thought alcohol was his way to deal with pain and occasionally he likes to mix his pills with whiskey but usually he keeps them separate. The hangovers are killers and Dean doesn’t like spending so much time on his knees, paying his respects to the porcelain God.

He only drinks when the pills don’t do enough, when the pain gets too much. Normally Dean can’t function without a couple of pills a day, just to get him going, just to make him forget the aches and bruises that come with being a Hunter for too long and never getting a damn rest day. Sometimes the pills don’t do their job though. They don’t numb the part of Dean that really hurts, they don’t numb his heart, so he drinks and sometimes he gets hallucinations so good he doesn’t want to stop drinking.

Gabriel might have been a cocky son of a bitch but he knew what he was doing in bed. Dean likes those times when he’s so buzzed out of his head that he sees Gabriel. Gabriel doesn’t judge him, Gabriel doesn’t frown that sad little frown that Castiel has and he doesn’t slide Dean cards for AA and tell him he’s here for him the way that Sam does. Gabriel just wants to have fun and that’s all Dean wants too.

It doesn’t matter that Gabriel’s dead. If Dean drinks enough, if he takes enough of his pills, then Gabriel’s back with him and that pain doesn’t feel real. Everything is fun. Gabriel has great stories about places he’s been and people he’s fucked and he gets Dean laughing every time. Maybe they’re memories but they feel real. Dean’s sure that sneaky bastard also drinks half his whiskey when he’s not looking and when they’re in bed together Gabriel feels real. Dean holds him down, fucks him so hard while Gabriel dares him to go faster, to do it harder because it’s not like Dean can hurt him - not like he’s hurting everyone else.

During those moments Gabriel always feels real but when he wakes up in the morning it’s to an empty bed, sticky sheets and the realization that Gabriel can’t be real. Not unless Dean is too close to being dead.
