He has enough issues with his dad and Howard Stark wasn’t a Superhero. He did help create Steve though so Tony does find it in his heart to feel a bit of gratitude towards his father even if it’s wrapped up in other feelings he can’t explain to Steve because to Steve everything is simple. People are good or bad and he doesn’t understand why Tony and his father are shades of grey.
Tony was always frightened he’d die too young, that any child he had would be adrift, just as he had been.

Steve always wanted to be a father. It just didn’t happen for people like him. Not back then.
Only now it has happen.
Steve looks happy. He keeps pressing his hand to his stomach, keeps smiling and even if this is the result of a Norse God of Trickery and Lies he seems content not to chase after Loki. He wants this child. Tony is all set to destroy Loki once and for all because here are his greatest fears - Steve being hurt, a pregnancy by mistake, a child- all rolled into one terrible trick but Steve’s happiness is infectious.
And when Steve takes his hand, presses it to his swollen stomach and Tony feels his baby kick for the first time he forgets to be afraid.
Tony Stark never wanted to be a father but he turns out to be a pretty good one.
