Sometimes Kate wishes John Winchester had never come into her life but without him she never would have had Adam so it’s a half-hearted wish at best. It doesn’t mean she has to like the man or like what he’s bought into her life. Before she met John she never knew about the monsters hiding under the bed. Now she turns all the mirrors round and puts a ring of salt around Adam’s crib.

She’s taught herself to shoot. She always carries something of silver on her person. She has a penknife in her pocket. Kate isn’t about to let anything or anyone hurt Adam. She worries about Adam when she’s at work and Mrs Collins from down the street watches him. She checked out the old lady though and she’s not a witch or anything bad. She just looked bemused when Kate gave her a horse shoe as a gift and insisted on tacking it up over her door.

Even with all the precautions though it seems like the whole of the Supernatural world wants Winchester blood and they come after her baby. Kate just meets them at the front door with a shot gun full of rock salt and reminds them that Adam is a Milligan first and a Winchester second.
