Also, from this article , that is trying to be optimistic about america, but in that british way, that isn't really optimistic at all, quotes from Pravda: “the Christian fundamentalists of America are the mirror image of the Taliban, both of which insult and deny their Gods.” ha ha, pravda ruuuuuuuuules.

but really. omg. anyone that takes ANY religious text as fact is AN IDIOT. they are LITERATURE. they use LITERARY DEVICES such as SIMILE, METAPHOR, ALLEGORY, RHETORIC and the like. they may help you to negotiate your own relationship to the divine and inspire you to adopt certain views and live your life in a certain way, but so does, like, the lord of the rings trilogy and the star trek series, to some people. which is all fine and good, but can you imagine a bunch of nerds with capes on trying to make public schools adopt biology text books that say hobbits are real?

oh wait, but maybe they ARE real...

ok so bad example. but it just really annoys me when people inject their crazy, irrational supernatural beliefs into the spheres of public life, foreign policy and science, and basically just bully everyone else that doesn't share those beliefs into accepting them or punish them for having different crazy, irrational supernatural beliefs.

[and i would just like to add that i do have my share of crazy, irrational supernatural beliefs, and as a religious studies concentrate at gallatin (HAHJAHAHAHA) i don't judge others, unless THEY judge others first. then they are fair game. and i'm not even going to get into all the inconsistencies and questionable ethics in certain religious texts but i like this site a lot.]
