No one saw it coming.

No one knew how he managed to get inside and take over the church, but he did. And it happened fast.

Too fast.

Three years have passed since the Millennium Earl overthrew the Vatican, made the Pope an akuma - and excommunicated and destroyed the Black Order, accusing it and all the people associated with it for heresy.

Very few are left, but they still fight for what they believe in, what they want: peace.

It's sheer suicide to try and wear the rose cross nowadays. Everyone realized that after Kanda lost his life. Even though greatly saddened by this loss, the rebels continued on with this meaningless war. Bookman and "Lavi" left as soon as this happened, claiming they were first and foremost of the Bookman clan. But "Lavi" (nowadays know as "Peter") still keeps in touch with his former comrades. Komui, Bak, and Reever haven't given up their positions as scientists (not even when their precious comrades, 65, Johnny, and nearly everyone else) have been lost. Allen has to cover his hair and mask his facial scar and arm to look like they've been burned. And Lenalee must disguise herself as a male.

The rebels keep their headquarters in France. Not too close to Vatican, but not too far either. Generals Klaud and Tiedoll are still with them, but Socalo has gone on his way and hardly ever notifies the others that he's still alive. Everyone lives in constant fear that they are discovered, that their plans fail and they won't make it in time.

But still they keep going.
