Well, sure. Just give me a minute to grab my board.

[AWESOME A SURF BUDDY. Jim's never had one before.]

All right, I'll meet you down at the beach!

[Gideon clicks off his comm and, just like he said, arrives on the beach a few minutes later, looking around for Jim.]

[Jim's that loser by himself with the board looking kind of chill]

[Annnnd Gideon realizes that he didn't even exchange names with Jim. So he just kind of saunters up and waves.]

Hey. I'm the guy you just talked to. Name's Gideon.

Oh hey. Uh, I'm Jim.

[Gideon scratches his head a bit before sticking his surfboard into the sand and leaning against it a bit.]

I went out into the waves a couple days before. Both times the water was good for surfing, so let's hope the waves keep up.

[Jim stares. Stares.]

...You're one of the water surfers too. [His hopes: can you hear them shattering?]

[Gideon just kind of stares back, having the sudden feeling that he's let the kid down somehow.]

... 'Fraid so. Why, what kind of surfing do you do?

[Kind of, but he'll pick himself back up, don't worry. He busies himself playing with his board's sail-release mechanism.]

Sounds pretty neat, actually. You ever tried water surfing, though?

We don't really have a lot of water for me to back home.

Well, I could cut you a deal. You show me how to air surf and I'll show you how to water surf. It's funner than it sounds.
