[When Claire speaks, she sounds... deeply upset and confused, but trying to stay calm.]

Ah, this is some kind of portable phone, isn't it? If there's anyone on the other end, I'd appreciate some information, if you don't mind. My name is Claire Folly; I'm afraid I don't remember how I came to be here at all. I'm supposed to be... [Dead.] ... ( Read more... )

[It was better than being dead... but she wasn't supposed to be alive. And if she was in some kind of bizarre afterlife... that meant everyone she met here was dead, too. And the little sheep...?]

From experience, most Pokémon make sounds similar to their name. It might actually be 'Mareep.'

This is like a video game, basically. Catch them, raise them, and... be friendly with them I guess. Most you'll find are pretty nice.

Actually, it would probably be the other way around. They would be named after the sound they make.

I guess that makes sense.

A video game is something you can play on televisions and portable devices.

...I don't understand. Wouldn't it have to respond to your actions? [TV's in her world don't do that, man.]

Yeah. They've become pretty advanced where I come from.

I... I see. All we can do is change the channel with a dial... I don't think that would make for a very good "video game".
