Zaimid watched his wife gracefully enter the room. She came to sit next to him, but not before firmly closing the door behind her.
He frowned. “You always do that.”
“Do what?” Sarai’s face displayed her puzzlement.
“Close the door.”
“I hardly want strangers looking in on my home,” Sarai objected.
Zaimid shook his head. “You even close them when moving from one room to another.”
Sarai sat beside him. She paused to collect her thoughts. “Nobody could be trusted in Rajmaut. You had to take all the precautions you could, including closing every door. It’s a habit, I suppose.”
