GRADUATION

Apr 09, 2004 11:21

Hey hey! Well I'm on base lib. again. Today we did the graduation parade and everyone got to see their families. My familiy couldnt make it down because i told them specifically not to buy plane tickets until i called them and told them i was sure i was gonna graduate (good thing i did since i got recycled 2 weeks before i was supposed to graduate). Anyways, myself and few of the guys who didn't have families coming down are just wandering around the base having fun.

Well for all of you wondering what basic training is like...it sucks. We go to bed every night at about 22:00 and wake up at 04:00 (04:45 on Sundays). Every morning except on Sunday we go to PRT (physical readiness training) in the morning and do push-ups, sit-ups, and a whole lot or running. Zero week is terrible. Thats when everyone gets their heads shaved, get harrassed by the TI's (Technical Instructors or "drill instructors"), and get issued our BDU's. First week is the same with a whole lot of processing and drill movements, and we get about 7 minutes to eat. Second and third week is just more training, yelling, and processing. Forth is "hell week". I got recycled at the END of the 4th week back to the end of the second week. So i had to relive 3rd and 4th week with a whole new flight. Tough stuff. Fifth week is nothing but war games where we go live in the field for a week on MRE's. We got issued a weapon which i lovingly named Victoria after my mother. I figure my mom would defend me and kill for me just like my rifle. OH! And get this! During my first time at a shooting range, i landed 37 of 40 shots in under 2 minutes from 4 different shooting positions, getting me a marksmanship ribbon which is now on my shirt ^^. My TI says im a natural born killer. Scary, eh? Well sixth week was all preparing for graduation and such. Scary, considering this is the week that most people get recycled.

Anyways, i have to get going. I will try to post again soon and i will try to be online a lot more. Bye everyone. Wish me luck in Tech. school!!
