While I continue to anxiously await news that will decidedly impact the next 2 years, I will recap my 2 successful concert experiences. Because they were both amazing in their own way, one maybe more special than the other.
Sunday was Gogol Bordello and DeVotchka. I loved it, a really epic show, was my first time being welcomed into the Bordello family and it was amazing. DeVotchKa put on a great show as usual, unfortunately that venue wasn't the best for them, but the acrobatic girl who did a ribbon act during
C'est ce la was breathtaking (to give you an idea). Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello really knows how to carefully get his audience's energy up and back down again, often within the same song. They started one song halfway through the show, they started a song with a slower melody than no one knew, and just as the audience was figuring it out they broke out into one of their most known songs

Now onto Tuesday...
I was privileged to see Faith & The Muse, who have never come to Montreal before and were brought here largely by the efforts of
farheavans, can't thank you enough, sir. They were spectacular, between the amazingly powerful voices, great costumes and stage presence, Taiko drums, tribal energy, and little ritual magic thrown in. Loved, loved, loved it. They had many guest musicians with them, I think 6 if I'm recalling correctly, and 1 dancer, Lucretia from Serpentine
Also, hearing "In Dreams of Mine", "Cantus", "Cernunnos", "Burning Season" was beyond words. As well as putting on a fabulous show, they were also all very personable, I got to talk with William Faith for a bit, although a little nerves an awe of his size impeded me a little, and I got Monica Richards to sign the lyric book that comes with the new cd. Before the show started, as the band was setting up the many instruments on such a small stage, friends and I were ogling the beautiful electric stand-up base that Faith was placing, he noticed us and gave me a little 'yeah, she's mine' smile. I also got to chat with
Paul Mercer the violinist that was with them, who was telling us all about his experiences of hearing ghosts in old, old, violins, amazing. Can you tell I liked it?
There was mention that they have plans to come back, and I truly hope they do, because I know of at least
cymry who would benefit from that. Would have loved for you to be there.
Okay, I will now leave you with this, one of their new songs that I think I will be adding to my running music.
