Oh, we have so much trouble with our cat flap falling to bits. We bought the most expressive gadgety one in the shop (hehe, you sound surprised?!) , about 3 years ago for £55. The one that comes with individually magnetic coded collar tags that lets just your cat(s) in and not the whole neighbourhood. Staywell is the make. But all the parts are made from plastic, which flexes! When the cat flap is closed (locked) all it takes is a boisterous push from a cats head to push the plastic door from its plastic hinges, which are 'firmly' held in place by a plastic battery cover! So many mornings I come down to find the cat flap in bits on the floor, with a strong breeze whistling thru the house, or a random cat eating the cat food. I have already gotten a replacement from Staywell, as it broke the plastic hinge in the first year, but the replacement is just as crap. I have looked into dog flaps - thinking they'd be more rigid and unbreakable, but they're plastic too. I want an aluminium one or something. But I can't find one on t'internet. Or maybe Norwich cats are just more hardcore than the test cats Staywell used to test their cat flap designs?! xx
