*waves to flist*

Hey guys, it's been a while. ;)
I hope you've all started the New Year with good food and most of all in good company. I don't have enough internet time currently to read and comment on my flist but I've skimmed a bit and am thinking of all youse. I've been out of the internet loop for the past two weeks seeing that where I am right now internet is a bit... scarce - to say the least. I just found a free wifi connection in the apartment, but it's so weak and slow it's almost not worth the trouble.
Not that I'm complaining. I've just spent the day in the snow and I'm filled to the brim with things like fondue (Swiss dish: melted cheese in a pot), raclette (another Swiss dish with melted cheese), tea (with lots of sugar and milk) and Lübeck marzipan.

Yesterday, it snowed, covering the slopes with powder snow that is a delight to ski in; and yesterday, there were fireworks everywhere. They illuminated the mountainside in brilliant flashes of color, sparks of blue following bursts of green and gold before the red took over the sky; so much light you could have thought it was daytime. The thundering sound of big firecrackers made my dogs bark madly till they finally got used to it and subsided. I stayed on the slope next to my temporary home (without the dogs naturally) and just admired the display, sprawled in the snow, snowflakes falling gently on my body and gradually building up into a thick layer.

And today, I'm looking forward to eight full hours of snowboarding tomorrow. As long as someone thinks to wake me up. And above all persists in waking me up; I'm usually an awful grouch in the morning and you really have to drag me out of bed.

I sprinkle my best wishes for 2009 on the rowdy Swiss mountain winds and blow them your way. Happy New Year. ;)
