have you ever been asked a question that made you really ponder your own beliefs, identity, or outlook? if so, what was the question? if not, what COULD someone ask that might have such an effect?

Not really a question as much as an experience, but everything that I've been through with Josh in the last almost four months? That's caused a major shift in how I view not only the sexuality and identity of others and made it more visible bit also how I view myself and what I believe in. I'm now starting to explore areas of my life I was previously too afraid to accept. I'd say that's definitely working to that effect.

"What about the people who are just plain unlucky?"

That was the question that basically exploded my desire to be one of those Ayn Rand sort of libertarian-y folks 'cause once I was made to think about its consequences for folks whose lives don't go according to "the plan".

And, well, it didn't hold up to that kind of scrutiny.

Yeeears ago I read Rand and tried to like it. I read my own philosophy into it so it didn't seem as bad... but what got me to examine my beliefs promptly is that everyone I saw who liked Ayn Rand was actually an asshole. I think the way I find my way into new beliefs and perspectives I'd simply learning from people who are actually really good people.

I was talking to my therapist about how I keep talking too much, telling people things they don't want to hear. They asked, "And whose responsibility is that?"

Sadly, another one was a friend's question about my then-boyfriend: "Does he appreciate you?"
