poem: "I Am Your Eater"

Apr 08, 2009 23:56

I Am Your Eater

I consume you
not like a fire,
licking slowly to your core --
not like an obsession,
stretching out from your core to color your whole life.

No,
I eat you
course by course, bite by bite.
You feed me slices-of-you --
succulent as mango,
juice dripping down my chin.
I savor the flavor
with my eyes wide open.
