on totems, I don't really know, I suspect it is different for each person. I think if you feel a strong affinity with an animal, that is a sign that it may be a totem of yours. (when I say 'totem' I may not mean the same thing some cultures do, I just don't have another word) I would LOVE to learn more of how others discover theirs because I'm sorta in the beginning stages of learning mine, still.
on elemental identification, I think there may be patterns based on birth but I don't see them as necessarily the same as the zodiac does. For instance, I've known Aquarians who seemed very air, and others who seemed very water, and the water ones weren't near Pisces. I think it is intuitive. I see myself as 40% water, 40% fire, 15% air, and 5% earth.
on colors, it's all intuitive for me. I would like to be able to see auras, but I don't, not in a visual or minds-eye sense. I feel colors as if they are a scent that people give off.
on the last part, I also only connect with people who deeply desire to understand themselves and others. ♥
