Kyoto "Maiko" - Experience Tour
A mother and her 20-year old daughter living in Tokyo went to Kyoto to have a 'maiko & geiko' experience. "Geiko" is another name for "Geisha". FYI "geisha" is used in Tokyo area, and "geiko" is used in Kyoto. I didn't know about that actually. Anyway, 'maiko" is an apprentice to 'geiko.' During 'maiko' period, a young girl leanrs dance, music, etc.
Anyway, travel agencies promote those tours in which people can experience different things besides sightseeings, and 'maiko & geiko experience' is one of them. After dressed up, they walked around Kyoto, and other tourists thought them as the real maiko and geiko, and took photos.
That reminded me of the fact that I haven't been to Kyoto for more than ten years... It's actually nice season to visit there. Maybe next year.
