I sometimes hate my country...

Mr. Hu Jintao, Paramount Leader of the People's Republic of China, visited Japan.  When he arrived yesterday, what do you think was the top news?

PANDA!

The Chinese government committed officially that they would rent out a panda.  Oh, how generous!  Thank you!

... I mean, PANDA?  Excuse me, not TIBET?  Well, we recently lost a male panda.  Yes.   We love pandas.  We want another panda.  And it's understandable that Chinese government wants to use it as their deplomatic tool in order to avoid other far more important issues.  Mr. Hu Jintao and Mr. Yasuo Fukuda, our Prime Minister, held the press conference together today, and while Mr. Fukuda mentioned about Tibet a bit, Mr. Hu Jintao didn't say anything about Tibet.   I like pandas, and it's good thing for both countries to have something adorable to talk about.  But a Chinese top politician didn't visit Japan for, like, 10 years or something due to some issues between us.  And now, finally he came, and the top news is about a panda?

Sadly, Japanese people in general have no interest in the Tibet issues, and they seem to be happy about Panda.  I'm not very politically-oriented person, either, but come on!

A small pic I grabbed online.
