(2:24:24 PM) Matt: Okay. Now you have to tell me the heroic Epic concerning your battle with the Spider-Monster.
(2:24:59 PM) Brian: I have to go fix a couple of issues, but then I shall regale you with the tale of the Great Spider Hunt
(3:10:46 PM) Matt: By all means, regale me!
(3:14:49 PM) Brian: indeed
(3:15:06 PM) Brian: The spider-monster is a crafty foe
(3:15:52 PM) Brian: He had been sending his minions into my hall for some days, we had dispatched those that were sloppy enough to be found, tossing their crushed and mangled corpses back to their comrades as a warning that these halls were well defended.
(3:16:12 PM) Brian: Yet still the Spider-Monster is a bold foe, undeterred once its mind has been made up.
(3:17:01 PM) Matt: lmao
(3:19:25 PM) Brian: It made its first bold attack while I was away, earning the living that those who dwell in my hall enjoy. This move, though bold, was little more than posturing, taunting my lady while I was away.
(3:20:21 PM) Brian: This caused her much distress, though she is no coward. My lady took up arms to engage the foe in what surely would have been an Epic of its own right, yet the Spider-Monster knew that this was not his hour, and so he fled from the light of my hall, into the dark corners where my lady dare not go.
(3:23:17 PM) Brian: The Eight-legged Foe bid its time, knowing now that my lady was steeled of nerves and strong of arm enough to give him pause. I searched my hall, looking for the dwelling place of this arachnid monster, but my search was destined to remain barren.
(3:24:12 PM) Matt: carry on, Skald
(3:25:21 PM) Brian: Having my fill of food and drink, and the hour being late, I retired to my bed chambers. My lady remained with our child for some time, waiting for her vast expanses of boisterous joviality to fade.
(3:25:38 PM) Brian: It was at this time that the coward of the eight legs chose to present itself in challenge to my lady.
(3:27:12 PM) Matt: Egads! Absconding into your home while you slept! Had this monster no shame or decency?
(3:27:40 PM) Brian: None, sir, nor even a shred of honor.
(3:34:57 PM) Brian: My lady, seeing the foul beast ready for battle, roused me from my slumber.
(3:35:35 PM) Brian: I awoke to her summons, my senses sharp, and my sword arm ready to do battle with this would be usurper of my hall.
(3:36:39 PM) Brian: Gazing out upon what would soon be our field of battle, I spotted the octolegged terror awaiting my presense.
(3:36:56 PM) Matt: swoon*
(3:37:10 PM) Brian: I returned to my chamber and took up arms, returning to the field with a haste worthy of my ancestors.
(3:37:48 PM) Brian: Even in my alacrity, the foul beast, having seen the determination in my stride, and the steel in my hand; fled the field.
(3:38:44 PM) Brian: This coward of corners, this hunter of fear, would not evade me again. I strode purposefully forward, turning over each obstacle in my path, seeking the blood of my foe.
(3:39:41 PM) Brian: It was not long before the beast was routed from its obfuscation, though its cowardice granted it a speed most unnatural.
(3:39:53 PM) Brian: Soon it had evaded my keen senses once more.
(3:40:04 PM) Brian: Though my keen intellect, it was unable to evade for long.
(3:41:13 PM) Brian: Surveying the field once more, my eyes led me to a small, little used drainage hole near the far end of the field.
(3:41:37 PM) Matt: clever beast!
(3:42:01 PM) Brian: I quickly deduced that this was one of the only places the beast could have fled to. I quickly bounded to that end of the field and let loose the dam, flooding the hole.
(3:42:17 PM) Brian: My intellect proved to be correct, as the Spider-foe quickly bounded from its hole.
(3:43:28 PM) Brian: Seeing that it had no where remaining to flee, the foul beast turned to face me at last, though it quickly proved no match for my might. After two rapid blows, struck true and strong, the beast lay vanquished at my feet, its blood painting the steel in my arm the deep crimson of victory!
(3:44:24 PM) Matt: Huzzah!
