Old soldiers never die, they just ramble on forever
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot more about my memories of military service, especially since I’ve been communicating with fellow vets in a Yahoogroup I joined this last summer. And I notice it’s been influencing the LJ as well.
I’m usually reluctant to tell “war stories.” For a long time I tried to resist the urge because I could go on and on about all the stuff that happened in four years (and that’s the unclassified stuff - the classified isn’t as much or as exciting as you’d think). Now I tend not to bother because it is so far in the past. But I’ve found that it sometimes helps to talk about it, and sometimes others don’t mind hearing it.
So I’ll set up these polls:
