Express your interest in a comment, and I will give you a letter of the (English) alphabet. You then produce a list of 10 words beginning with that letter, write something about each of them, and post the list in your journal.
Inspired by the

1. Texas
I love the cities in Texas -- San Antonio, South Padre, the D/FW Metroplex -- but hate driving through the vast spaces in between. King's County is supposed to be one of the biggest counties in the country, and I drove through it. =(
2. Tennessee
From Memphis to Gatlinburg, I've had so many great times there. Beale Street and Memphis Zoo are still a couple of my favorite places to go in the whole world.
3. trains
Grew up near a railroad, so the wail of a diesel locomotive's horn in the night is a soothing sound, followed by the chugging of all the cars going thru town. When the Rock Island line went bankrupt and stopped running, I woke up in the middle of the night from lack of noise. Sometimes, at "souls' midnight" (around 3 a.m.) I'd hear ghost trains.
4. time
I'm so horrible at time management, getting things done, not being late. Always my biggest weakness.
5. taxes
It's because of taxes that we will always have pennies. While it's political suicide to propose raising taxes by a nickel, a 1 percent raise to help build schools (or whatever promise you're going to break) is a much easier sell.
6. tequila
Like good whiskey, each tequila has its own distinct flavor and character. I like the stuff, but understand if you don't, especially since once you get puking sick on tequila, you may never be able to stand even the smell of the stuff again. Tequila Sunrise is my default cocktail.
7. tortellini
Don't know what it is about this stuffed pasta, but I always find myself ordering it when at an Italian restaurant, or wanting to buy it at the store (usually don't, because it's pricey). There's one downtown Indy Italian restaurant that has a half-price pasta special that includes an incredible tortellini dish. Yum!
8. television
Grew up on TV, including watching Sesamae Street and Mister Rogers from the very beginning. My military and college years were a break from TV addiction, during which the idiot box was just a monitor for the VCR or game. Now there are a dozen or so shows I and Snack watch faithfully (thanks to DVR).
I remember when I was about 4 or 5, we had a little black & white TV, but when the NBC peacock came on with the voiceover saying "This program in living color," I was both so naiive and full of imagination that I actually believed I was watching the show in color.
9. tortillas
For five years I worked at a Tyson Foods Mexican Original plant (Tyson makes a lot more than just chicken). MO was a tortilla factory, mass-producing corn and flour tortillas, taco shells and corn chips. Tyson MO (at least, at the time) supplied all the tortilla products for Taco Bell. Much of the time I'd work in the warehouse, stacking cases of product on pallets. On a good day, a box of wheat tortillas would accidentally break open, and some of the product would hit the floor, "contaminated" though the pouch was still sealed. Couldn't let it go to waste, could I?
And there were always not enough chip bags to finish a box at the end of the shift...
10. thanks
I try to express gratitude as much as possible, to my friends, my family, my God, and especially to
the_dark_snack, whose patience I test daily. Thank you for putting up with me!
