Blogging life's for me
Well, I've come to the conclusion that I'm a terrible LJ-er. :) I could look to get the exact time, but my guess is it's been a couple months since I've posted...around the time of the Outgames.
I would by lying to say nothing post-worthy has happened in the intervening time period. However most of my friends here are square dancers, and I literally have done next to nothing square dance related in that time.
Most of my time has been taken up with other interests...mainly my studies in such nerdly areas as NLP, Energy Psychology and Energy Medicine...lots to say, but nothing that would be appreciated by those not involved or with interest in the subject themselves.
Well, fortunately, Square dance season has started up again, though my involvement this year will be very much reduced compared to the last few years.
We (my club, the Date Squares) made the very logical decision late summer to reduce our schedule to one day per weeks. Logical as be have had a veritable exodus of dancers this year. I think three or four have left town, we have two down with injuries (non-square dance related!), and two or three who have been dancing with us almost from the beginning, who have reached a place where they want to move on to other activities. So we are down from around 20-24 dancers last year to about ten-ish returnees.
We've had intro nights the last three weeks, with lessons formally beginning this week. It looks like we will have around six new dancers, give or take one or two. Not our best year, but I'm reasonably pleased. Interestingly enough, about 50% of our new folks are women, which is very different than we've had from the beginning. In fact one of the women who showed up last week was talking about trying to convince folks from a lesbian social group to join too. Not holding my breath, but it would be an interesting turnaround for us.
So while that's not it, that's about as much as my square dancing friends might be interested in. I'm not expecting to call much outside of lessons for my club, I'm not planning to attend many fly-ins this year, and may even miss convention, as much as I hate to think of that. We will have to see.
One thing I will do is attempt to rejeuvenate my involvement with LJ, eh? :)
