Remember that TMNT was a underground comic book of INSANE popularity YEARS before the beloved cartoon. The TMNT roleplaying game was made ALONG SIDE the creators of the comic book and done by Palladium books. It was one of the top 3 RPG's for years. When the cartoon came out, it did a good thing and a bad thing.
The good news is, EVERYONE knew who the ninja turtles were. It got the toys, cartoons, movies, etc.
The bad news is, since it was now "kidi-fied" (The comics were violent and bloody) the hardcore RPG'ers slowly lost interest in the game.
Over the next 5 years, sales in TMNT product dropped, and it wasnt worth paying for the license and the TMNT line was suspended.
TMNT was MANY peoples first RPG experience, esp early 80's. Its actually a bitchin system, and the extensive hand to hand combat rules in Palladium worked perfectly with TMNT. There was a ton of rules for making almost ANY kind of mutant animal, it was an excellent game.
Sadly, you cannot order TMNT stuff thru Palladium anymore due to the license, so used bookstores and ebay is your best bet.
The core rulebook is "TMNT & Other Strangeness"
On a side note, if you can find a copy, where theres a typo on the side binding (It says "TMNT & Other Strangness) see the misspelling? If you can find a copy with that, *I* will pay very well for it.
Your misunderstanding.
