Thumbs Up America!

Yes, that's the title, but hear me out. I'm not overjoyed at the prospect of more big government programs, higher taxes, and increased government intrusion into my life. But I am proud of Americans today.

I'm proud because people lined up for hours to make their voices heard. I'm proud because there was a sense of community and togetherness in those lines, regardless of politics. And when the winner was announced...

We went about our business. Some went with a smile. Others, perhaps, with a wistful shake of the head and dreams about what-might-have-been, but we went about our business. No riots. No angry reprisals. If someone stumbled into America on November 5, they wouldn't have noticed much of a difference from November 3. America made history, and once again transferred power without a shot fired, like we've done for more than two hundred years.

Thumbs up, America.
