I have done lots of stuff since I last updated.
3 weekends ago I went to Maryland and showed Magali around DC. We saw pretty much everything there is to see in DC (which is A LOT) in 8 hours of walking and my feet really hurt. She of course barely talked, and continued to give one word answers to questions even when the questions I asked were open ended, like "What do you think of Washington?" grr. On the way home we stopped in Baltimore and went to the aquarium, which was fun, and I showed my dad Peabody since he hadn't seen it yet. I saw the old Peabody library for the first time and it is REALLY cool.
The next Tuesday I went to the City with Jen and we went to the NBC Studio Tour. It was so cool. We got to go in the Conan studio and I could not believe how small it was. Conan stands like a foot away from Max during the monologue. And his desk is really small because it is built to scale with the studio, not to fit Conan. We also saw the news studio and the SNL studio, which was cool too. Then we had dinner in the Hard Rock in Times Square, which I thought I had been to before but it turns out there must be 2 Hard Rocks in New York, or else I'm crazy. We talked to this lady from Connecticut for most of our meal. She was there with her teenage daughter, who I'm sure was terribly embarrassed by this, but it was funny. After that we went to Canal Street and Jen bought some knockoff bags.
The next day Christian, Ryan, and Jen came over and we went swimming, played some Wii, ate dinner, played Apples to Apples, and watched To Catch a Predator, hoping to see Bill Hare, but we were disappointed when they didn't show him. It was a fun day though.
2 weekends ago Aunt Jan and Cassie and Carly came to visit. They wanted to go shopping in the City. They got here on Thursday night and on Friday my parents showed them the sights of Sussex County, like Sunrise Mountain. While we were up there we ran into a guy who was hiking the Apalachian trail to Maine. He had started in Harpers Ferry. I thought that was pretty impressive. Jen came over that night and played we played Apples to Apples again, this time with the whole family.
The next day we went to the City, and we started at Central Park, then walked down 5th Ave, going in stores. I saw the big piano show at FAO Shwartz, which was cool. It is somewhat sad that I've played on that big piano 3 times in the past 6 months though. It is possible I need to grow up. We then went to Times Square, had lunch in McDonalds, and spent some time in stores there. Then we went to Canal Street, where Carly was very excited about buying purses. We even went through hallways and stairs to secret back rooms. It was all very exciting. On the street I bought some bootleg movies, more for the excitement of doing something illegal than actually wanting the movies. Some of them are more well-done than others. License to Wed had a section where it jumped back like 20 minutes in the movie. That was funny. Evan Almmighty was really well done. Anyway, we were supposed to be home for dinner, so we got home at 7:45 and my mom made a big "Thanksgiving dinner" to show Magali what that is like. It actually was really close to a real Thanksgiving, including the pumpkin pie. It was weird eating it in July though.
The next day, Sunday, we were going to do Greenwich Village, Soho, and stuff like that, but it started POURING and I was the only one with an umbrella. It was a little ridiculous. We ate lunch at this little place called Once Upon a Tart, where I had possibly the most delicious dessert I have ever had, and while we were in there it started to rain. It was a somewhat wasted day. We just went back to Times Square for a while, and then to Macys, which I had been in before, but I never realized how huge it is. I got some Ben & Jerry's in the junior section while Cassie and Carly were shopping.
The next day we went to Seaside to show them the Jersey Shore. It was kind of crappy weather, plus they didnt want to go on the beach because they dont know how to swim and are afraid of water. I was in a pretty crappy mood all day, so enough about that.
Wednesday Magali left to go back to France. I still have no idea what she thought of anything. We just felt pretty used since we spent a lot of money on her and got very little from the experience. (I was really pissed when she asked me to pay for her subway ticket and said she didn't bring enough money for the day in NY and then she bought stupid expensive crap)
Last weekend was less eventful. Sunday was Aunt Nancy's birthday and we went to Charlie Brown's in Chatham for dinner (at 4:45). It was fun. Then I went to Ryan's in Bridgewater, watched an episode of The Office, and went to see the Bourne Ultimatum with Ryan, Christian, and Rachel. Then I borrowed The Office Season 1 from Ryan and watched the whole thing. It was a late night.
On Monday I went to Ikea with my mom to buy stuff for my new apartment. I'm going to live in this awesome luxurious apartment one block from Peabody. It's a one bedroom with den, which means that I'm going to have much more space than I know what to do with. I feel bad about how much it's going to cost my parents ($1025 a month), but I'm really excited about living there. I don't get to move in until Sept. 7, but hopefully the rooftop pool will still be open. :-D Anyway, we bought lots of stuff at Ikea, and spent almost 4 hours there. It was fun.
That pretty much brings us to now. I have been watching tv and stuff mostly for the past 2 days, and eating brownies for lunch, so I need to get over that and get back to work. I have lots to do!
