My road trip with Dave:
We left on Saturday morning for Pittsburgh. Dave was going to a family graduation party and we were driving with his mom to Pittsburgh, where they were going to drop me off at my aunt's house and he would pick me up the next day. However, we got into a car accident like an hour into the drive. Luckily Dave's mom was driving. I'm not sure why, but that made it all better. It was a little bit scary though because we were on the highway and suddenly had to stop and the guy behind us hit us and we went spinning around and ended up facing traffic coming toward us. No one was hurt, but the car that hit us was full of 6 kids going to Hershey Park. The kid that was driving wasn't on his dad's insurance. Basically they're screwed. We had to stand there on the side of the highway for over an hour. Rubbernecking is really awkward when you're the ones the people are looking at. I wanted to waive back at the kids, but I thought it might be innappropriate. The car had quite a bit of damage, but we could drive it, with a slightly annoying sound coming from the back door because it didn't shut all the way.
I had a fun time in Pittsburgh with my Aunt Jan and cousin Carly. We went out to dinner, did some shopping, got ice cream and watched movies. Dave picked me up at noon on Sunday and we drove to Kentucky. We stopped at Ruby Tuesday for lunch, going against my family's strict fast food only policy for long drives. We got to Jen's at like 7:30ish and got dinner. Then she drove us around her campus and we walked around a pretty flowery place. It turns out Kentucky is beautiful. We rented A Night at the Musuem, which Dave enjoyed more than I have ever seen a person enjoy a movie. Jen and I stayed up til 1:30 chatting, just like old times.
Monday we went out to lunch, did a little shopping, went grocery shopping at Walmart, which I got a kick out of, and had Dave make us dinner, which was amazing. Jen's house is really nice and we ate on her back deck. That night, we met 3 of Jen's friends and went to a bar. When we got back, Jen had the brilliant idea of watching our senior year DVD, despite all of my trying to dissuade her.
Tuesday we had lunch with Jen and then drove to Maryland. There seem to be no cops in Kentucky or West Virginia, so I drove fast. We got to my aunt's house at 9:00.
Wednesday we were going to meet Amy at her metro stop, but when we went to park at our station, there were no parking spaces at all, so we ended up going back to my aunt's house and waiting a little while before she got home and she drove us to the metro. We had lunch with Amy at Union Station and then I took them to the Postal Museum, because it should be everyone's first stop at our nation's capitol. It was fun. Then we went to the National Gallery East Building, and then the Natural History Museum. We were going to have dinner at Amy's but when we got off the metro it was pouring rain at a ridiculous rate, so we ran to a chinese restaurant and ate there. Dave and I went back to my Aunt's and watched the Top Chef season premeire which I was super excited about.
The next morning we drove to Amy's apartment, which was cute, and met her boyfriend, who is really nice, and had lunch with them, before heading back to NJ. Besides the accident to start it off, it was a good road trip.
Saturday I went to Boston with my parents and my brother to visit Missy. We had no plan at all. We picked her up and had lunch and then drove into the city and walked around until dinner time and then we ate dinner and went back to her apartment, where we watched a movie. Sunday we went out for brunch and then went home. Family trips are much less fun when you're not 12.
Monday I started a diet because my weight has gotten a little ridiculous. I only eat lunch and dinner- no snacks, and I don't drink anything but skim milk and water. Today I did 2 miles on the treadmill and rowed around the lake. I feel great. If I can keep this up, I think it will be awesome. I also sang for over an hour today, which I hadn't done in a really long time. I sang some stuff I couldn't sing last time I tried, like Smanie and Non so piu. That always feels good.
