When did PPO health insurance become the red-headed step child of the health care industry? I thought all the docs hated HMOs but no, apparently they hate my Pacificare PPO. Within 100 miles of Santa Ana, Pacificare gives me 11 doctors, once you exclude the docs who don't take the PPO (but still take the HMO), the dead doctor, and the guy who got his license 40 years ago and is therefore too old to be operating in my opinion, that leave TWO doctors who could work on my baby. I haven't called them yet, so we'll see if they are still taking patients, still taking the PPO, and lord help me, are still ALIVE!!! I still can't believe they referred me to a dead guy. Seriously. DEAD!!!
For the record, I'm looking for a pediatric urologist. Also, if I had an HMO, I'd have a list of 21 and the dead guy ain't on it.
