10.01: in which that looks like a typo for the pilot because surely not series ten
Oh Spooks. I bet none of you believed my year of apathy, because surprise, apparently I still Give A Fuck. I guess it's hard not to when there're only five episodes left ever.
1. The writing was actually passable, you guys! There were some witty things said! Harry didn't get too many clunkers! Or I don't know, is this just my rock-bottom expectations paying off?
2. Tariq, please don't leave, and if you really have to, please don't die. Please go and work for Malcolm or open a bike shop in Scotland or something.
3. Ruth, how are you still lovelier than ever before.
4. Oh wow, is the Home Sec really the first person in eight series to have pointed out that Ruth is essentially Donna Moss? I've changed my mind, the best ending ever would be with Harry dead/imprisoned/retired/exiled/disappeared, and Ruth running MI5. (I know someone's said this once actually, can't remember who/when.)
5. Does anyone else see glimpses of Adam in New Boy? Physically I mean. It's disorienting.
6. Hahahahaha, hands up if you didn't guess that he was Harry's son.
7. Spooks is still the only show where in the middle of a scene I suddenly desperately want something that's never occurred to me before. In this episode it was a) Ruth to run MI5, and b) New Girl to have a life. I may have actually been chanting "have a life, New Girl, come on, have a life" right through her conversation with Dimitri. YOU'RE WELCOME, NEW GIRL.
