There's no way I'm going to get around to posting every day, so here are the first fifteen days of
hestia8's meme. I have been avoiding Spooks since series 9 but I feel like a trip down memory lane. Also, in celebration of the fact that although my Yuletide story still has zero words, it now has a plot idea. \o/
There are spoilers up to 8.08 in my answers.
01. Favourite episode?
Oh, start with the hard one why don't you! Okay, I've narrowed it down to three. 2.05 the EERIE episode, like everyone's said, of course. The second half of 7.08 (not the ridiculous first half), in the tunnels. And my third equal-favourite is 1.02. The very first episode got me interested, but by the end of the second I was sitting there thinking, wow, this is something I need to keep watching.
02. When did you start watching?
First series, first episode! It was a year after the UK broadcast (so that makes it... 2003?) but I had no idea the ABC broadcast was delayed until series 4, when I Discovered The Internet. I also had no idea that BBC International cut five minutes out of each episode before selling them.
03. Favourite guest star?
Hugh Laurie obviously. Lively on this side of the river, isn't it?
04. Favourite female character?
THIS IS HARD. I would say Jo, but the Jo I know and love is at least half fictional. (By fictional I mean fic-based, as opposed to, you know, the Jo on TV who actually exists in real life? You know what I mean.) Then I suppose it's a really tight tie between Zoe and Ruth.
05. Least favourite female character?
You guys, I think I have to say Ros. I mean I loved Ros. She was consistently awesome in nearly every way and the best leader Section B/C/D ever had, but I was never attached to her.
06. Favourite location?
I am a foreigner ok? Lucas meeting an asset at the London Eye. *hides*
07. Best exit?
I hated it, but Malcolm. Because he got up and WALKED OUT when things got too much, which is pretty much the most sensible thing anyone's done on the show ever. In terms of character arc, Ros's exit was pretty good too (both of them).
08. Worst exit?
Is there anyone who didn't answer Zaf for this question?
09. Favourite baddie?
ARKARDY KACHIMOV, MOTHERFUCKERS. Oh whyyyyyy did Harry kill him? Lucas gets back to London after eight years and Kachimov has Elizabeta, and he has Lucas running as his mole, and then Lucas turns it all in his face and frames Kachimov as a mole, oh my god, after everything Kachimov did to him that was so fucking perfect. And then Harry fucked it all up by SHOOTING HIM DEAD. ARGH.
10. Least favourite baddie?
As in, the nastiest baddie, or the lamest baddie? I'm going for the latter, and I'm going to steal
hestia8's answer and say the whole of MI5 in series 6, because it's true.
11. Favourite male character?
This is also hard, because I loved Tom, Adam and Lucas for different reasons at different times, and then I also went off them for different reasons at different times. So for consistency, a tie between Zaf and Malcolm.
12. Least favourite male character?
Why so difficult, meme! I hated Adam in series 6, but I loved him in series 4 and in 7.01. I haven't consistently disliked anyone. Ohhhh, I suppose I'm going to have to say Danny. Not that I didn't love him but strictly speaking, he was Least Favourite.
13. Favourite couple?
Jo/Zaf! They were canon, right? There have been woefully few couples on this show. Zoe/Will, because they're so cute. Ros/Lucas if you replace 'couple' with 'kickass team of awesome'.
14. Favourite quote?
Only one quote? "MI5 don't do evil. Just treachery, treason and armageddon."
15. Tom, Adam, Lucas: who would win in a fight?
Ros.
