I love a plot where our team is running the show. Makes a nice change from my usual shouting at the tv while they are one step behind and about to get everyone killed. Granted, that was the first half of the episode, but the second half was all control. On balance I really liked it, so I'm not going to mention how annoyed I was that they killed Evil Russian (WHYYYYYYYYY).
The scene in the (unrelatedly: beautiful) bathroom was great. That moment when they realise that Evil Russian is Evil, but there is no disbelief, no discussion, no accusation - just Beth's quick little warning glance and Lucas lying like he was born for it. Teamwork! Competency!
OK, I knew it would happen - I kind of fell for the Lucas/John/Maya plot this time. I think it was Lucas tying it to his time in prison, which hasn't been forgotten, and saying he didn't kill anyone, and ARGH! challenging Vaughn to tell Harry! I loved the possibility that Lucas just wanted to confront Harry and get it over with. But on reflection he probably just knew Vaughn wouldn't carry through, right? Anyway, I still have no idea how this plotline could be resolved in a good way, but I am cautiously intrigued.
Finally, I don't usually notice cinematography unless it's really good or really appalling, so I suppose this episode must have been the former. I loved all the long side-on shots, like Harry and the Russian ambassador walking along the embankment, and Lucas and Maya. (NO MAYA DON'T KI-- oh too late.)
