ok, i have returned. it was two years in the making, 3 months in the waiting and now it is done. she came, she saw, she has gone home. some highlights of my week:
first off: her (duh). it had been far too long. she is every bit as fun, free-spirited, loving, crazy, outgoing and all over breathtaking as i had remembered. i was sad to see her leave this morning, but she should be making her way out here again before too long.
next we have: meshing my new life with a bit of my old. i got to step back a little and look at my life now compared to where it once was. and i am pleased with where i am and how i got here. to see my new friends react to someone who knew me before any of this, to see an old friend remind me of something i had all but forgotten, it was just a beautiful experience and i loved it.
then there's: the food and drinking (and god there was loads of both!)!! we had a get together for some drinks and shenanigans on thursday, so that was fun (except for the dick who tried to steal my catnip, but that's a rant for another entry). as for the food? we did kerbey queso, katz's deli, amy's ice cream, the clay pot (indian food, unfortunately it made my girl sick), the brick oven and (our lazy-ass favorite) take out from mandarin house. it was divine. and all without meat! working on week # 7 now ;)
and how could i leave out: she had to do the alamo draft house, and since she wouldn't be here for a showing of rocky horror, what better way to de-virginize her than a weird al sing-a-long? it was fucking awesome!! i knew probably 95% of the songs they played but i only knew all the words (as in, can sing them on my own, any time, from memory) to 4 of them (the saga begins, all about the pentiums, white & nerdy, and jurassic park). this doesn't change the fact that i belted out the words with the rest of the crowd to such classic, sing-a-long hits as: eat it, like a surgeon, smells like nirvana, yabba-dabba-doo, i love rocky road, i'm fat, amish paradise, living with a hernia, i lost on jeopardy, beverly hillbillies and a full 2 hours worth of others (including the afore mentioned faves). there are supposed to be more of his sing-a-long in the next couple of weeks, and i think i may have to go back. i mean, who besides him can make accordions, off beat lyrics, sound effects and a long curly fro that sexy?
and finally that leaves: i got it. i drew it up. i had a friend help me make it better. i dropped it off with my artist and just a few weeks later i was sitting in the chair, the same familiar nerves in my stomach. the same fleeting "there's still time to back out of this" thoughts. the same knowledge that i was about to pay someone a very large sum to put me through an hours worth of agonizing pain for something i can never, ever, change my mind on. i got my 6th tattoo. i was glad my friend got to go with me, but it was rough. for some reason, out of all my tatts, the ones on the outside of my arm (supposedly the easiest place to get inked) have been the most painful. now, granted, this one is the biggest and most detailed of the others by far. it was the most expensive one i have (ending at about $240 with the tip included) and it took the longest (nearly 2 hours, only two 10 minute breaks). it was rough, but totally worth it:

right now it's so sore. again, i think it's cause it's the biggest and most detailed thus far, but damn!
so now life will resume. i got some personal shit to catch up on over the weekend, then its back to the daily grind. for anyone who's interested, here are some pics of the week:
