I'm busy doing nothing...

Well, I'm sitting here playing work avoidance tactics.

drmal is on another stint of nights, so it's just me, my teaching course materials and Derek Acorah so, of course, rather than crack on with my induction tasks and get ahead, I am posting an entry here instead.

I've also been checking out wedding venues online - the interweb is a wonderful thing.  There is a comprehensive list of civil ceremony venues on a government website so we're just systematically working our way through it - or rather I am, and drmal occasionally feigns an interest.  Our criteria are as follows:
  1. Does it look nice?
  2. Is it big enough? (Mrs A suggested we learn from her mistakes - she looked at loads of venues that were too small, so we've compiled a provisional guest list to aid us.  Her other big mistake was to forget to include herself and her now-husband in the numbers and only worked this out after she'd sent the invitations out.  She had an anxious couple of weeks waiting for two people to refuse so that they could attend their own wedding.)
  3. Can we have both ceremony and reception there?
  4. Are the hours that you can use the venue too restrictive?
  5. Do they have a website with a modicum of information available?

However, we've just been honoured to be invited to hold our reception at a friend's house in Cornwall - she held her wedding there and it was wonderful and I know that after attending Dr and Mrs E's wedding last month, a marquee in the garden would be right up drmal 's avenue.  So the question is, do we want to arrange a wedding at a distance and can we find a nice ceremony venue that is reasonably close to Penzance.

We're partway through casting Doll's House - the actress we wanted as Nora has said yes and I'm delighted to say that Titian Girl has agreed to 'give' her Mrs Linde.  It's just the men that are the problem...watch this space...
