Prompted by the lovely rosewarren, my new term's resolution is to post more on lj.

So what did this week bring?  A return to work (I currently work in education, though have been many, many other things) - new term, same old rubbish from people who allegedly are leading the project I work on, which takes the shine off the new term somewhat.  Still, I learnt a lot last year about effective working and being assertive and while I'm happy to work hard, I'm not going to allow myself to be taken for a ride this year.

Still, this week I have proposed a book group and got enough takers to be viable.  I'm pretty excited about this, as the group is composed of very, very good people, some of whom haven't met before, and I'm excited about them all getting together.

Other good things this week was the Greenwich Comedy  Festival.  I miss Edinburgh - it's been too many years since I've been up, so I'm hoping to get up there next year - but this was like a tiny corner of the Fringe in SE London.  First up was the wonderful John Hegley, who was even funnier than I remember - though he played to a half full house - what were the people of SE London thinking?  I would so love to write poetry like his - he does weekend courses with Artbreak Motel (great name!) and one day I will go.  This time, though, I met the man and got him to sign my copy of his latest work.

Then, my teenage crush, Rob Newman, who is also a quarter responsible for my marriage.  It was a bit meandering, and he tended to go off on a tangent at times, but when he was good (and he was particularly so on the political and environmental) he was terrific and as usual I learnt something I'd never heard before that changed my world view.

So, all in all, not a bad week at all.
