So I had my $25 flash drive in a public computer when I accidentally hit it with my leg (the box was under the table). More like a tap really, but still the USB connector ripped halfway off its board>_>

Lucky for me I have a ton of soldering stuff and I fixed it in less than 5 minutes! Maybe voided warranty 'n whatnot but anything else would have been a huge hassle by comparison.

Also while I was at it I compared this 8gig (left one, in both photos) to my "ancient" 256 meg disk which I bought in highschool. The white clear thing on the 8gig is some sticky packing stuff, but there isn't anything underneath it. The NV RAM is the exact same size for both while the USB controller for the 8gig is smaller... Also what's interesting is that the 256 meg has FAR more external components.  Either this 8gig manufacturer is cutting corners, or those components have since been integrated into the two main chips (memory and controller).
