It means "sites." As in, "I saw the sites of the city."

The second new thing on my journal is the quote at the top of Tolstoy's. It roughly translates to "God and I, we are friends. I don't need religion." I think it kinda translates well considering all the "trouble" religion is causing these days. (Every religion, not just Chrisitianity.) But that's a whole other story, isn't it?
