I'm currently reading Nocturnes by Kazuo Ishiguro. I bought it when I was in Singapore. The reason why I bought it is simply because I want to know Ishiguro's writing style and plot. I was pretty much interested with Kazuo Ishiguro but never read one of his creations. That's why when I had a chance to buy it back then, without thinking I bought it right away.
Well, I was kinda confused at first because I have no idea which one to buy. Considering this is my first time to read Ishiguro's, I picked the thinnest one without really read the summaries usually written on the back. The only thing that caught me is
"In Nocturnes, Kazuo Ishiguro explores the ideas of love, music and the passing of time..."
Hey, I love jazz, why don't I try it? That's what I thought.
Never did I realize..
"Each of these stories is heartbreaking in its own way.."
Is written down on the back of the book. This saddened me the most. I've read the first chapter and on my way on the second chapter (this is a collection of short stories), yes, it is indeed heart breaking. Aside from that, the writing style and the idea of Japanese writer wrote about American or European characters are not my cup of tea. I decided, this is going to be my first and last book of Ishiguro's. He just doesn't fit my taste of books. *sigh* I'm quite reliefed I haven't bought The Burried Giant yet.
He is till a good writer but doesn't fit my taste. I'm sticking to Murakami Haruki for now. :D
For today, maybe I'll continue Dance, Dance, Dance.. I have an urge to finish it ASAP.
See ya! :D
