After asking them, Suze and Smell agree that
this article is a bit too simplistic. I mean, thanks to Ms. Dowd for making feminism the topic of moment, but still, I kind of wish that more of what is being written was well-informed. Couldn't they have at least taken a sociology class? I read
The Second Shift and it changed my life, or at least the way that I view my personal feminism. Boy does that sound pretentious.
On a totally different topic, the formal last night was fun, especially as we "pre-fiestaed." One of the night's funniest moment was when LGT yelled at her date while we were learning dance steps. He was joking with another boy and she yelled out: "Joel! Pay attention!" It was so funny. Good times. Also, the boy is not such a bad dancer, although he did spin me a bit too hard. He came to the dance, in a suit (with suspenders, it was cute, and a "power tie")and really was very patient with me talking to all of my friends, making the rounds, just so good. He also came to minyan on Friday night, and I can't help but think: "The hippie never would have done this for me." Which is unhelpful, but makes the boy look better.
In other news, you know that your life is cool, when your exes are like Voldemort. The boy and I refer to the Saint as "the friend that we don't talk about." A little bit it is weird for me, as we occasionally touch on other people that we know and it isn't bad. We've both even mentioned exes. I don't know if it is that he knew the saint, or that they were best friends, or what. I think that part of him might be worried that when I look at him I am thinking of the saint. I dunno. It's a bit bizarre. I feel like I should bring it up at some point, but not yet. Something to look forward to.
