I can say this here because the person I'm saying it to doesn't know this journal exists. It's the kind of thing I'd never say to a person and whats more I don't know if my supposition is even true:
I want to be championed, not settled for.
And that's all I'm saying about that.
With my committee meeting coming up, I've been pondering what to cook. My adviser kind of looked longingly at a loaf of bread a few weeks ago and said 'Is that chocolate bread?' I had never contemplated the existence of chocolate bread but I thought... why not? Most of what the internets has to say about the topic involves yeast bread and that sounds like no fun at all. I decided to modify my mother's spice bread recipe instead. It turned out pretty well so I'm sharing.
Chocolate Bread
Bake at 375 for 1 hour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup walnut dust (i use a food processor to pulverize walnuts... it's great fun)
1 tsp cinnamon (more could work)
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
2 cups flour
1 egg
2 tbsp butter
1 cup milk
3 tbsp half and half (my mom's recipe calls for 1 cup buttermilk but that's not something i have around so i was just trying to fudge it)
I mix the wet ingredients and then fold in the dry ones one cup at a time. Flour a pan and bake for an hour, you're done.
Hope all is well for everyone.
