what i would really like to say right now...

Dear Students,

We are all amazingly busy people. I take a good chunk out of my week to attend your course and teach your breakout sessions. I'm trying to make this easy for you by offering to work any problems you don't understand. In fact I don't really care if you've even looked at the problem, if you called out 'work number 17' I would teach it to you. If you asked a random question having nothing to do with the homework I would try to answer that too. I don't want to see you at my breakout sessions if you're going to come, wait for someone else to ask a question, and then leave when no one has any questions. Let's either call the whole shebang off or make an attempt to learn something together.

Sparkles and tears,
your TA

P.S. I know you're finally come see me the day before the exam. You're going to regret waiting until the last minute, genetics isn't a cakewalk.

But of course i won't really tell them that. I'd really like to be a good TA. I'd like to help them learn if they're struggling but I think most of them are putting off understanding the material for now. Maybe later in the semester they'll actually want my assistance.
