There once was a time, back when Ryo tried the 'go to college' route, when he thought that Mondays were the worst days of the week. It wasn't just that he almost always had to deal with hangovers-- belonging both to his friends and himself-- but also because everything seemed to be due on Mondays. As if the weekend really had enough time in it to encompass that much fucking work. (Similar yet a bit different to how Daylight was created only for the purpose of torturing those who lived with a roomie that all but burst out of bed in a disgusting fit of happiness at ass o'clock in the morning ( ... )

"Osaka-kun!" How perfect is it that the very first person to be at her door is her own personal favorite Osakan? She hops down the step and then flings herself on him with slightly more enthusiasm than she'd had with flinging open the door. "Good morning!" she burbles, letting go and beaming up at him. "I'm supposed to tell everybody that nobody is supposed to stick their fingers in my biteShe glances up and down the street and then leans close. "But if it's you or Aiba-kun or somebody like that who tries it, I promise I won't tell Yesung about it, okay?" Oh, hey! Speaking of people she would and wouldn't tell on-- "Hi, mister!" she calls, trying a cute smile on a passing man in a suit. "You want to come in to Come Again? We're open for business for the day now! New issues of the nudie magazines came today!" She looks back to Ryo. "New nudie magazines are in," she informs him, because sometimes he buys them even if she doesn't care that he reads them standing in the aisle ( ... )

Ryo gave her a tight hug in return, fingers already playing with the gap in fabric. Not telling Yesung about most of their adventures together was kind of a standard rule when it came to them hanging it; most of the shit they did together would probably pass as sexual harassment. Still, it was good to know he wouldn't get chomped in half for fondling her today because he would've done it anyway ( ... )

Ryo had tickle-y fingers! Giggling, Misono batted his hand away. "No tickling! That's in the video, you know!" But, smiling, happy, Misono laced her fingers with Ryo's, careful of the webbing. She didn't care if they did a video-don't. She didn't care if they did all of them.

But that wasn't as important as other stuff.

"Treats?" she asked, excited. MORE excited. "Monday's are awesome!" Totally were! "And the shop always needs pretty people, this is true! We're gonna do great business!" Which reminded her. "Hey, mister, would you come in if I let you put your fingers in my bite? I'm not gonna," she looked at Ryo again, solemn "totally not gonna let him, okay? Serious!" and then back to the man "but if you said 'yes' then you're the kind of person who loves my shop! So you should come in anyhow!"

Swinging Ryo's hand with her own, she turned and went back inside. The air smelled like strawberries and latex. "Magazines first or treats first?"

"They're baked kind of treats." Ryo confirmed, lifting the bag in his unoccupied hand. "Because I was bored." And homesick, he very much did not add on. It wasn't like Misono needed to know that he spent half of his day off yesterday rummaging through an old box his mom packed for him, looking at photos and letters and recipes; and then another half spent baking until he had a close replica of the cookies his mom made back home. "Probably not as good as yours, but I've never been much of a baker ( ... )

Misono continued to ignore her future customer--he'd definitely be back--and trained her focus to getting Ryo to give her a cookie. "They're probably really, really good if you made them with your feelings!" she said loyally, ushering him over to the red couch and trying not to shove him to sit. Mentally she began to make tea in the kitchen upstairs. "And anyhow, anyhow, I had years and years and years and years to learn baking and stuff. Even back home, before. And then, when I first came here, that was practically all I did because I wasn't allowed to go out on my own!" Sometimes it had been pretty darn boring. "It was a little bit boring. Baking isn't the most fun ever ( ... )

"Because it was something to do?" Ryo shrugged, plopping down on the couch and setting the bag beside him so he could dig around in it. There wasn't really a lot of stuff in it; just some cookies (cucumber, lemon, peanut butter), a couple of muffins (strawberry, blueberry, cucumber), and a slice or three of chocolate cake (...because his mom actually did not give him the recipe for cucumber cake). Enough containers of goodies to cover the cushion beside him, but really, that didn't count as a lot. "I normally just play guitar when I get bored. Cooking was a pretty good change of routine, I guess."

He opened the container with his cucumber-flavored treats and, after popping a mini-muffin in his mouth, set it on his lap. "Help yourself to whatever isn't in my lap." Ryo said, mouth full of food. But, hey, she'd just said he could be gross if he wanted because this was America, where people had the freedom to be wild and--

"Hey, do you have a tattoo?"

"You could play your guitar in here, if you're bored," Misono offered, watching as he doled out the goodies he'd brought. "That'd be nice, wouldn't it? Then you could hang out with me and be pretty and play the guitar and I'd get to listen."

Though listening was the farthest thing from her mind at the moment. She only absently answered his question about the tattoo. "Huh? Of course I don't have a tattoo. Why would I have one?" Not that she cared about it at present.

Because there was a lapful of tasty things she wasn't supposed to be having and that was too much to take, let alone to take that AND think of other things. "I want to taste something in your lap!" she declared. Not having things made them kind of irresistible and she was curious as a cat about things she wasn't supposed to get into.

"Not sure if the songs I know are good for the porn-shopping mood." He laughed. Of course that would be her solution. "I end up singing along, and most of them are in Japanese. This store is weird, but it isn't that weird ( ... )

Songs, whatever. Tattoos, whatever. "Hey!" she kept her eyes fastened to the container now over Ryo's head. "Osaka-kun!" Muffin on his thigh, whatever. "I just want a taste! Even if it is cucumber! Maybe it's good! Maybe I'll love it! How do you know I--"

Oh, that was actually a good question! "Hey, hey, you said luck sprites don't like Kappa cookies, yeah? How do you know? Have you met another zashiki-warashi? 'Cause I never have! Maybe we don't like them, huh? Maybe?" Damn, that was really worth the pondering. "What was she like? He like? Rude and wild, like me?" she asked, taking the muffing from his thigh and biting in. "Strawberry is good," she told him, talking with her mouthful. "I like this. Did the other one have a tattoo?"

The problem with distracting Misono was that she went off on tangents and he never knew what it was he was supposed to be replying to anymore. That's probably what he deserves for underestimating her brain, though.

"Uh, what? How have you never met another zashiki-warashi? You've been around since forever, or something." Wait, no, back on topic. "I haven't actually-- I mean, you're the first I've met, but most people dislike Kappa recipes." Damn, now he was curious. What if she liked them, though? Misono may be his partner in crime, but that didn't mean he was going to start sharing his cucumbers with her if she developed a taste. Still, it would be nice to have someone he could share food with... And she cooked a lot better than he did, so if she liked it there would be more...

"Okay, fine." He sighed and dropped the container back in his lap. "The cookies turned out a lot better than anything else; if you're gonna try something, go for those."

Oh. Well. Oh. "Oh." She blinked and then blinked again, sorting though the tangle of conversation that she'd made. "I've never met another zashiki-warashi because I never have. Part of it maybe because of the way I grew up?" She felt her brows crinkle in. "I didn't used to leave the house very much at all, let alone the family land holdings. But I think it's more--" she waved the muffin around, careless of the crumbs she sprinkled in her lap. "I think it's more like we don't go into each other's places, don't touch each other's families. I know there are more but I don't meet them." She'd never really given it a lot of thought. Sometimes people asked but mostly they didn't. "Maybe from before, when I was ienaikiko, I might have but I don't remember that ( ... )
