He could have spotted the pickpocket from a mile a way, even in this crowd. He wasn't trying to be noble-- but if he was hungry, why not pick off someone that society would probably be better off without? The man was seemingly in his 40s, and as Han Geng got close enough to smell him, definitely under the influence of something. This would be easy enough, he thought, as he reached forward to clamp a hand tightly around the pickpocket's wrist to drag him down the dark alley to their right.
Han Geng had perfected over the years the speed at which he silence someone, sinking his teeth in their necks before they even got the chance to scream for help. Perhaps he was just tired tonight, or out of practice because it had been a while since he had fed, but tonight he was too slow; his victims loud scream echoed through the alley, even after Han Geng had snapped his neck to silence him.
Well, it was no really not matter. Even if anyone heard it, he doubted anyone would care enough to follow it. And if they did, he would just have the body hidden before anyone could get here.
