So far, his night had been pretty shitty, and that was putting it mildly. Even waking up felt like shit, not that Jin knew what that felt like, but he could imagine what being chewed up and squeezed out felt like, and that was exactly how he felt laying on the floor, still a little groggy, but somehow alive.

Oh! He was alive.

He jumped up and within a split second the pain was back. He whimpered without thinking and toppled back to the floor, still incredibly out of it. He sniffed, looking around from his spot on the floor as his world slowly came into better focus.

Giving a low murr, he steadily pushed himself back up. Sure, he didn't know where he was, but he was pretty sure by the lack of doors that this wasn't a good place to be. He looked around, ears alert before lifting a paw to try and figure out a weakness in the metal so he could get out. Luck wasn't on his side.

After scratching and biting around for a while, he decided he felt exhausted, and trapped, and possibly scared for the first time in his life. So, he did the only thing he had the energy left to do. He cried. His head tipped up, a low, long, howl coming from his throat.

At the howl, Rina made her way back into the recovery room. She'd made a pot of coffee and had ordered take out, since the rest of the staff had gone home for the night. No longer in her lab coat, she pulled her sweater closer to her, since it was a bit chilly in the room. She'd have to adjust the temperature.

"Well! Hello there. Awake I see." She smiled softly, coming over to the cage. He didn't seem to be struggling, so there was no danger of his stitches tearing. Yet. "Are you hungry?" She knelt down on the floor next to the cage.

The howling didn't let up. Jin was pretty sure there was no one around to even come to his aid other than the other dogs in cages. If he couldn't get out, there was no way they could. He was bigger and badder than the average dog, so they didn't stand a chance. The idea of it made him want to cry even more.

Once the door opened, his sound died out a little, paws padding back softly to put himself in the corner back away from where she was. He wasn't sure he recognized her. Yet, she spoke of food, and that was something he could understand in lots of languages.

His ears lifted, but he made no motion to get closer. He wasn't even sure if the food she gave him would be worth eating. It might even be poisoned for all he knew. Yet, he was a wolf. He was an okuri-inu. No one dared to poison them... he'd never been poisoned yet. Then again, he'd never been stuffed in a cage either...

She could tell he was scared, but that was to be expected. "I bet you're hungry. After such an ordeal, I would be too!" She carried over a bowl, full with a special steak mixture. It looked like steak and gravy, but had extra vitamins inside. Opening the cage door, she sat in such a way that he wouldn't be able to get out, but she did leave the door open.

Placing the dish inside, she smiled reassuringly at him. Pushing the dish in the middle of the cage, she sat back, looking as nonthreatening as possible.

Lowering his head, Jin simply stared at her. His spot seemed pretty nice from how he looked at it, so, he stayed, ears up and listening while she left and came back. She didn't seem overly afraid, or clumsy, so there didn't seem to be much of a reason to attack.

That bowl wasn't getting any closer it seemed.

So, he was left at a standstill. Go to it, or not eat. He wasn't sure what it was. At least, it didn't smell disgusting. That was a plus, and when you ate something, what didn't kill you only made you stronger. Strength was definitely something he needed right now.

Slowly, moving one paw infront of the other, he moved forward, eyes darting from the bowl, to her, then back and forth all over again. No sudden movements. If his head was down, he might not see her if she attacked, but she was just sitting there. In his experience humans were slow... So. It might be okay to eat it. Still, he paused, giving a good sniff over before lightly lapping at the mixture.

Her experience with wild dogs came in handy here. She made no movements, her hands clasped in her lap where he could see them. One of the required traits in being a vet was patience. She had all the time in the world, so just sat and watched him. He needed to be assured that she wouldn't hurt him, that she was actually there to help him.

Once he'd gotten to the general eating, it wasn't so bad. A little weird. But it was probably some kind of dog food all ground up and shaped into chunks for easy chewing. Dogs were wusses. Sure, it wasn't a big bowl of salty rice, but he wasn't that picky. He'd just have to tell her to give him that later. She might not know. She probably didn't. Almost everyone in America looked at him and saw just a plain wolf, a dog, not something intelligent potentially magical. So, he ate, content after a few moments to eat without feeling the need to check a glance at her.

Waiting until he was done, Rina watched him, checking out his movements. He seemed to me moving quite well, though a bit stiffly. There didn't seem to be any obvious pain, unless he moved in a way that would bother his stitches. Again, a good sign. Once he was done, she smiled and took the bowl away. "Such a good boy! You're feeling better I hope. You had a nasty accident, but you're safe now."

Licking the bowl clean was somewhat awkward, but table manners were something nonexistent for Jin. Yet, once he was done and his head had lifted, he just stared at her hand when she reached for the bowl. He looked up, staring at her before lifting his tail a little to swish back and forth. She seemed okay, and he was an excellent judge of character...usually. He was still pretty young by all standards.

Smiling at him once the bowl was gone, she just sat in front of the cage. She held out her hand for him to sniff, making no other gestures. He was such a big wolf! If he wasn't injured, there was no way she would try this by herself.

He stared at her hand for a couple seconds before moving forward. His ears lowered, stretching his neck a bit to sniff at her hand. He wanted to get a good sniff. You could tell a lot about a person based off of how they smelled. Though, she definitely wasn't a threat. She wasn't even anything weird like some of the people in this city. Good 'ol human. Just the kind of person he'd follow home. His tail swished again, head moving so he could press his nose against her palm.

Giggling at the wet nose on her palm, Rina waited a bit before she ran her hand over his nose and muzzle. His fur was so soft. "You're a good boy, aren't you? What were you doing way out here anyway? You should be in the forest, where it's safe for you."

Jin idly wondered why humans talked to him. It wasn't like he could actually talk back, at least not like this. He was pretty sure any regular wolf would never stand for being spoken to like this, but, ah, Jin wasn't a regular wolf. He had a bit more of a life purpose other than hunting and making puppies. His ears stayed down as he stepped forward a little more. To her, it probably wasn't surprising that he'd be hit by a car...

Rina was cautious, just as the wold appeared to be cautious around her. She moved her hand slowly, but surely and without fear, over his soft fur. She'd always preferred those of the canine species to felines. They were so much bigger and it was so much easier to hold onto and run your fingers through their coats. For such a large creature, this wolf seemed so docile and unafraid. After all, most wolves wouldn't be like this...

Then it hit her. What if he wasn't just a regular wolf? What if he was one of those supernatural creatures?

It was really hard not to relax at least a little against the touch. The more wild side of him told him he shouldn't relax too much, he certainly wasn't out in the open where he could take off if he had to. Though, something about her screamed submissive, if only maybe because she was a woman. She wasn't really doing anything to make him feel threatened, and for all he knew, she wasn't the one who stuck him in that cage to begin with. So, he stepped a little closer, carefully looking around for a way out.

She sat back a bit, her fingers still running through his fur. He was slinking on the floor, but that was a good sign. He was wary of her, but he wasn't in so much pain that he couldn't do that. It was normal for him to be so cautious, and there wasn't really anything in the room that could hurt him. A cot was setup in the back for her and the only other thing in the room was a sink, the door to the small bathroom, and other cages. All of the doors were magnetically sealed.

If he was one of those were creatures, then he would need space to shift. Assuming he was strong enough for that.
