Meisa was a lot later than she told Misono she would be. Stupid turkey, why you gotta be so big? She had spent... well... too much time trying to find a small

Kitty von Catcat meowed and Meisa chuckled as Misono gave the cat a light scolding. Winking at the cat, she smiled when she got permission to sneak treats. "Got it." The cat followed her to the counter, weaving between her feet as she tore the nori into strips. "Hold on, hold on." Finally opening the can of spam, she began cutting slices, saving a bit for Kitty von Catcat. She snapped and charmed the piece of spam to hover in front of the cat. "There you go. Nibble on that while I finish making lunch."
Without the cat underfoot, she was able to finish the spam musubi in no time, using the open spot on the stove to lightly fry the spam and molding the rice the way she learned how to growing up. As Meisa finished wrapping the last nori strip around the rice and spam, she looked over to where Misono was. "Lunch is ready Neesan~"

But that wasn't so important as watching Meisa make lunch. It looked simple enough--it was onigiri, more or less--and it smelled all right and Kitty von Catcat certainly seemed to enjoy the magically hovering meat. And since it kind of hovered away from them, it kept Kitty out from underfoot. AND entertained her. Misono giggled as she watched the cat try to paw the food down. Then, since her hands were free from the pie crust, she hugged Meisa from the side. "Thanks for making lunch, little sister~~~" she sang, giving her a squeeze. "Let's go eat in the living room! Yesung won't mind if we use the coffee table for a table-table!"
He'd maybe even wake up for food! "This is a good Thanksgiving," she said happily, setting the dough in the refrigerator with no hands. "I keep saying that but it keeps being totally true!"

She managed to spell the floating piece of spam to follow her as she went out of the kitchen, giggling when the cat tried to pounce and bring it down.
"Oh! Drinks!" Pausing at the door, Meisa looked back to where Misono was. The bit of spam continued it's merry little way to the living room with Kitty von Catcat following and trying to bring it down. "Do you have iced tea?"

"Hey, hey, speaking of things I have and things that people don't mind, I met a guy you know!" She pushed Yesung's arm aside and gestured for Meisa to sit. Then she shoved his leg out of her own way and plopped down on the floor. "I did! Can you guess? He's very pretty and he's kind of very mannered and--" and his heart didn't beat "--and I met him at Come Again!"

Something distracted her. Out of the corner of her eye, Kitty von Catcat was setting up to pounce on the piece of spam that had settled on hovering near Yesung's foot. Meisa wondered if he'd wake up if the cat jumped on his foot and slightly wanted to see what would happen if Kitty did pounce. Misono had said he was tired though, so she took pity and sent the piece of meat further away for Kitty von Catcat to play with.
"Who did you meet at Come Again Neesan?" she asked, turning her attention back and murmuring a quiet 'itadakimasu' as she grabbed a spam musubi for herself.

But then she snapped to attention at Meisa's question. "I should make you guess," she grinned. "I should but I won't at all. It was the guy from the shampoo commercials that Yesung and I like so much! He came in to use my phone and he was kind of shirty with me a little bit but I think that's because he has manners and I wasn't a very good shopkeeper because I was distracted from showing C--but anyhow, anyhow, I met that guy! Your Jun!"
Reply
"Jun?!" She burst out laughing, the image of Jun the gentleman standing in the middle of a sex shop too funny. "Jun was in Come Again. Oh that is just priceless." She'd have to tease him about it later. "This is the Jun that I work with who we're talking about here, right?"

Maybe she'd ask. "Hey, is there something kind of..." what if Meisa didn't know, though? Misono had the feeling, just from the look on that guy's face, that a lot of people didn't. "Is there something special about him? I felt like..." his heart didn't beat "like there was something special about him I should know or something." Like what the hell he was. "Like maybe you told me something and I forgot it?"
Misono wished Yesung would wake up. The easiest way to figure out if her question made sense was to watch Yesung's face. If HE looked confused, then she was too confusing.

She calmed down enough to listen to Misono inquire about her friend. "Special? About Jun?" Meisa furrowed her brows trying to think about what she'd told Misono about Jun. The fun they had working together and their crazy photographer. A little bit about his background. (She hadn't told Misono about their pretend courtship, though, given the fact that, well, it was an inside joke.)
"I think I've told you most of what I know about him Neesan. Why do you ask?"
Reply
This also told Misono something else about Jun: whatever he was it wasn't something Meisa could feel, nothing that rubbed up against her magic. She hadn't expected it to, honestly, because she'd barely felt anything even when she'd touched him. So she'd keep his secret and she'd keep an eye on him. She trusted Meisa and if Meisa trusted him, she would give him a small part of her trust as well.
She smiled guilelessly, open as a summer window and bright as sunshine. "I ask a lot of questions!" she chirped. Which wasn't an answer at all but sure sounded like one. "I guess he just has that--" she waved her hands again, food still in one "--you know. That sense about him. Like I should know something about him. Maybe it's because you know him so well?" she tipped her head to the side like she did when she was being thoughtful. "Maybe it's because I see him on television in the middle of the night--right here in the Jade Palace!" Maybe it was because there was some weird magic tangled up in his unbeating heart. Who knew? "Who knows!"
Kitty von Catcat came over and jumped loudly on to the coffee table, her small body landing with a big noise. "No, this is MY lunch," Misono told her. "You ate yours. And that one is for Yesung if he wakes up, you greedy thing!" She made a face at the cat and then wrinkled her nose at Meisa. "She's spoiled because she's the only kid in the house."
Reply
"I promised to sneak you food didn't I?" she told Kitty as she lifted her off the table and into her lap. "How are you going to eat all the good stuff later if you stuff yourself with spam?"
Scratching behind Kitty von Catcat's ears ensured that she wouldn't try and go after Yesung's lunch, so Meisa kept at it when she looked up at Misono. "I want a cat, but my building doesn't let us keep pets." She sighed. "It'd be nice to come home to someone, even if it's just a cat."
Reply
She leaned back on her hands, looking at Meisa. "You can't have a cat? Not at all? Even if you ask? Even if you sneak one in?" Sneaking in a pet rarely did work out well, however. But she didn't like thinking of Meisa being all alone. "I don't want you to be lonely, Meisa-chan," she said. She gave Yesung a considering look. Maybe she should wake him up and ask him what he thought they should do.

It really didn't help that there were a couple pet stores on the way home from school that she passed by every other day. "I'm not lonely, lonely," she said thoughtfully, stilling in her petting of Kitty von Catcat, "I don't think. Just sort of lonely?" Living by herself was fun for a while, no one to think about besides herself, but after a year... it got old, especially after living in the dorms where there was always someone to hang out with. "If that makes any sense."
Maybe she needed to find a roommate, even if it meant giving up her rent controlled studio. Kitty von Catcat snuggled into Meisa's chest, bringing a smile back to her face as she resumed petting. The cat was definitely spoiled!

Ahhhh. "Ahhhh," Misono said softly. "I know what that's like--being a little bit lonely but not entirely." She also knew being lonely with somebody, but she didn't think Meisa would ever be that way so it didn't matter. "You know, though, I'm sure--absolutely!--that somehow this is going to work out." Somehow.
"But not with that Jun guy," she said warningly. She didn't want that working out that way until she could figure him out. She gave Meisa a sunny smile. "Do you know I learned that the best way to bake a pie is to put it in a paper bag? You should remember that trick! If you ever want to bake a pie for somebody, that's the way to make it the best."
Reply
"Things will work out," Meisa reiterated, mostly to herself. She blinked then, a little taken aback by Misono's warning, wondering why in the world her sister thought she would possibly be roommates with Jun. He was a private person and Meisa didn't want to intrude on his privacy, despite thinking that he'd be an ideal roommate.
There was no time to question Misono, for she had switched topics to tricks for baking pie. "Paper bag? Wouldn't it burn in the oven?" Her head tilted in question. "Does it keep the pie moist or something?"
Reply
Well. "Not that it doesn't get hot and kind of brittle but it doesn't burn. It makes for a good pie. I learned that from a grandma who used to live next door when I lived with Mackenzie." She caught Kitty von Catcat as she abandoned Meisa to leap for the table again. "Are you trying to wake up Yesung?" she asked the cat. "Because if you keep up I will have to be very stern with you and only Meisa will baby you from now on, you know!"
